The image depicts a visit by a delegation from Hezbollah to Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Rai in Bkerke for a congratulatory meeting, but the underlying significance is much deeper, following a long period of disagreements and broken ties. Mr. Ibrahim Amin Al-Sayed confirmed after the meeting that "there is no old page and new page with the patriarch; it is always open with him." He added, "Our country is living in very difficult conditions on the political, living, and economic levels, and electing a president is a necessity, if not a priority over all other matters. Therefore, the circumstances require more caution to elect a president as soon as possible, and the situation in the country makes the presidential entitlement a priority."
He also called for "a genuine and serious dialogue between parliamentary blocs to agree on a president who enjoys a high level of consensus and political and popular legitimacy, not a 'challenge president' or a president of confrontation," as he put it. He emphasized that the party is in "the best relationship with the army commander, which is founded on goodness and continues likewise, but the presidential entitlement is elsewhere; we do not impose a veto on anyone, but our vision is clear, and the path to it is consensus and dialogue."
Regarding the relationship with Deputy Gibran Bassil, he stated: "The Free Patriotic Movement is a significant entity with its own standing, and Bassil has never been under Hezbollah’s umbrella. We know how to agree with him and how and when to disagree with him."
