The Israeli Foreign Ministry reported that 7 people were injured, two of them critically, in a shooting attack in Tel Aviv. The Israeli ambulance service announced the "death of one person in the incident" and the transfer of 5 injured individuals, including 3 in moderate condition. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu directed, according to his office, the mobilization of "reserve forces and additional border guard units in light of the security escalation."
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported that "the Commander of the Israeli Border Police, Amir Cohen, ordered the calling up of four additional units next Sunday to reinforce the forces."
In the initial moments of the incident, the Israeli police noted that "a car hit several people in Tel Aviv before overturning, and the driver was neutralized." They highlighted that "preliminary investigations indicate that the perpetrator first ran over people and then opened fire." Channel 12 reported that the attacker shot from his car window before it overturned and attempted to flee but was killed by the police.
The Israeli ambulance service revealed that the victims of the Tel Aviv attack were foreign tourists, and it was confirmed that the deceased was an Italian tourist. Various media outlets reported that the Italian tourist may have been shot by Israeli police.
In contrast, a spokesman for Hamas stated that "the Tel Aviv operation indicates the resistance's ability and its youth to strike the occupation," emphasizing that "the responses to the crimes of the occupation will not cease until its arrogance is broken." The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine noted that "the Tel Aviv operation is a natural response to the crimes of the occupation and its repeated assaults and incursions into Al-Aqsa." The Islamic Jihad Movement praised the Tel Aviv operation, affirming it as a "legitimate response to the crimes of the occupation and its aggressions against our people and our sacred sites." Popular Resistance Committees mentioned that "the Tel Aviv operation is a strong slap to Israeli security and a confirmation that the quest for revenge for Al-Aqsa has not and will not end."
