The Dutch seismologist Frank Hoogerbeets has been absent from social media, where he previously appeared after every earthquake around the world to confirm that he had predicted it and warned about it beforehand. He also regularly published periodic astronomical bulletins. However, with the outbreak of the war in Gaza, he began to tweet about the Palestinian issue, its origins, and history. He continued to criticize the intensity of the Israeli bombardment of Gaza and warned that the force of these explosions could trigger a strong earthquake in the region.
Since November 5, Hoogerbeets has stopped tweeting or posting any astronomical bulletins or predictions regarding seismic activities, despite the Earth experiencing strong tremors in various places in the past days. He had posted a tweet three days prior stating: "The whole world must stop and demand an end to the genocide being perpetrated against the people of Gaza. There is no point in predicting earthquakes while this massacre continues. We are trying to save lives while thousands of people are being killed, and thus we decided to suspend our services for the time being."
His last tweet, published on November 5 on the platform "X," stated about Palestine: "In 1948, more than 750,000 Palestinians were forcibly displaced from their lands." It is worth mentioning that Hoogerbeets had predicted the earthquake that hit Turkey last February days before it occurred, as well as the earthquake in Morocco last September, along with several other earthquakes.
