The distribution of the first monthly installment from a total of six installments of the American grant has begun under the "Support Program for Army and Internal Security Forces Personnel," in coordination with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) through OMT. This support is being distributed equally among all military personnel. Army Commander General Joseph Aoun expressed gratitude to the United States for this "valuable initiative towards the Lebanese Army," appreciating its support for Lebanon and its army, as well as its contribution to alleviating the current crisis.
On another note, the United States and the United Nations will begin disbursing cash amounts to the Lebanese Army as part of the "Livelihood Support Program" starting June 23. This program, valued at $55.5 million, will provide temporary financial support to over 70,000 members of the Lebanese Army, offering eligible personnel $100 per month for six months.
This initiative will help mitigate some of the economic difficulties faced by Lebanese Army personnel who are making tremendous efforts to serve their country, thereby contributing to overall security and stability in the region. As part of this U.S.-funded program, the UNDP is working with a nationwide financial service provider to disburse these funds to eligible members of the Lebanese Army. There is also a separate program for Internal Security Forces personnel, valued at $16.5 million, which began in April, providing financial support for six months.
