Morocco Appoints New Consul in Algeria

The Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the appointment of Mustafa Rzouk as the new consul in Algeria, with his duties set to commence in September. On Friday, the Moroccan Foreign Ministry published a list of appointments for the position of Consul General for the year 2024, including names of appointees in several consular offices in Spain, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Britain, the UAE, Algeria, Mauritania, Tunisia, and Canada. Previously, Moroccan King Mohammed VI expressed hope for a "return to normalcy" between Morocco and Algeria and for the opening of borders after diplomatic relations between the two countries were cut.
