Ukrainian model, Swa Bontiska, has filed a lawsuit against the Cannes Film Festival, alleging that she experienced physical assault from a security guard. Bontiska revealed that she lodged the complaint after being "brutally restrained" by the guard during the premiere of the film "Marcelo Miu." In an interview with the BBC last Thursday, she stated that she felt afraid when the guard cornered her while she was at the top of the stairs of the Palais des Festivals as she attempted to enter on Tuesday, May 21.
Bontiska said, "I was trying to escape, but she was pushing me inside so that no one could see what she was doing and then expelled me through the back door." The model shared a video on her TikTok account showing the guard attempting to drag Bontiska, who fell to her knees.
Bontiska accused the festival of "physical assault" and is seeking financial compensation of 100,000 euros, approximately 108,300 dollars. She stated that the use of physical force caused her "psychological trauma." Bontiska expressed, "I have always dreamed of participating in the Cannes Film Festival, but I was shocked by the guard's rudeness and the use of force, which I faced on the red carpet alongside other global stars."
