Bahrain: Royal Court Mourns Abdullah bin Salman Al Khalifa

The Royal Court in Bahrain announced on Friday the passing of Abdullah bin Salman Al Khalifa, Chief of the Military Office of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. The Royal Court stated: "With hearts believing in God's decree, the Royal Court mourns His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Salman bin Khalid Al Khalifa, Chief of the Military Office of His Majesty the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces." Abdullah held numerous national positions, most notably serving as the Minister of Electricity and Water from November 11, 2002, until December 2007. Prior to the Ministry of Electricity, Sheikh Abdullah bin Salman Al Khalifa held various positions in the Bahrain Defence Force, most notably as "Chief of Staff." In 2007, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa issued a royal decree appointing the late Abdullah as "Chief of the Military Office of His Majesty the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces" with the rank of Minister, as well as a member of the Supreme Defense Council.
