The Egyptian Ministry of Education responded to reports of "attempts at cheating and the circulation of questions for the Intermediate Certificate exams for the second semester on cheating groups," stating, "What is happening are attempts at cheating and circulating questions, not a leak." Minister of Education and Technical Education, Reda Hegazy, stated that the current situation involves "attempts at cheating and circulating questions, not a leak, and we have taken all legal measures."
Since the start of the Intermediate Certificate exams for the second semester at the end of last week and the beginning of this week, all questions from these exams have been circulated on "cheating groups," along with their answers, according to Egyptian news websites. Today, the admin of the "Shaoming" electronic cheating group circulated several images claiming they were "related to the Intermediate Certificate exams that students are currently taking inside the exam halls, just minutes after the exams began in various governorates."
For its part, informed sources within the Ministry of Education indicated that "the educational directorates are monitoring the claims regarding the circulation of the second term exam today to verify whether the circulated images belong to this year's exam or not." The sources added in a statement to "Cairo 24" that "the ministry is closely monitoring these groups to confirm the questions being circulated, and legal action will be taken against any violators if those questions are confirmed to be circulated, in accordance with the electronic cheating law."
