A Palestinian report stated today, Tuesday, that hundreds of tents have been flooded and others blown away, housing thousands of displaced individuals, due to heavy rains and strong winds in various areas of the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) reported that the heavy rains and strong winds that hit the northern regions of the Strip, the western part of Deir al-Balah in the center of the Strip, Rafah, and the al-Mawasi area in Khan Yunis to the south caused the flooding of hundreds of tents, with others being blown away. Displaced individuals, including children, women, the elderly, and the sick, were left to spend the night in the open amid severe cold and heavy rain, in very difficult humanitarian conditions.
The displaced have called on international and UN agencies to urgently provide shelters for them given the harsh conditions and the ongoing war being waged by the Israeli occupation against the Strip for the 165th day. Most of the displaced individuals in the tents and shelters left their homes in various areas of the Strip in haste, hoping to escape the bombardment of occupation planes and artillery, carrying only a few clothes, blankets, and personal belongings, thus becoming victims of the severe cold, hunger, and thirst.
