The American company "Tesla" has revealed its latest generation of Optimus robots, which it is developing to perform various tasks to assist humans. The company indicated that the new Optimus Gen 2 robots are equipped with motors, cables, and sensors developed by its own experts, and they can walk 30% faster than the previous Optimus robots, while also being approximately 10 kilograms lighter and improving their balance capabilities.
Videos circulating online show that these robots are capable of moving parts of their structures in different directions, bending, and performing movements similar to those executed by humans, with more complex movements aided by their arms.
In related news, Tesla is recalling slightly more than two million vehicles in the United States equipped with the advanced "Autopilot" self-driving system to implement new safety protocols, after a safety regulatory body raised concerns about the system's safety. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been investigating Tesla, led by billionaire Elon Musk, for over two years regarding whether Tesla vehicles sufficiently ensure that drivers remain attentive when using the self-driving system. This recall appears to be Tesla's largest ever, encompassing nearly all of its vehicles on U.S. roads.
The aim of Tesla's self-driving system is to enable vehicles to steer, accelerate, and brake automatically within their lanes. While the enhanced self-driving technology can assist with lane changes on highways, it does not make the cars fully autonomous.
Tesla had previously mentioned that the Optimus robots are undergoing extensive training using artificial intelligence technologies that enable them to perform new tasks, such as sorting objects independently. According to available information, Tesla plans to utilize these robots in its manufacturing operations, and after verifying their capabilities, it intends to release some models for sale.
