The Chief Shia Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Qablan observed that "wasting time and encircling the resistance strikes at the core of Lebanon's interests, and the political trade at the expense of national principles is shameful." In a statement, he said: "During this time of fasting, which signifies self-sacrifice and the sanctification of humanity, some must understand that presidential salvation through political rivalry undermines the essence of the covenantal partnership, enhances Washington's malicious influence, and contributes to its project of dissolving the country. The absurdity lies with those who consider humanity sacred yet insist on separating the Gaza situation and its massacres from Lebanon's situation, despite the fact that what is happening there is closely linked to the American-Zionist invasions, which have not spared even the outskirts of Moscow from their transnational terrorism. Moreover, what Israel is doing in Gaza threatens the balance of power between Lebanon and Tel Aviv."
He emphasized that "this is not a matter of cultural and religious tendencies, but a human instinct that all religions and consciences of the world believe in. Here I assert: there is no greater national sin than political rupture and turning one's back on the most crucial sovereign war being fought by the resistance duo on the southern front. What is required is to meet the sovereign duo, not to accommodate Washington and international envoys in a manner that ensures national partnership in sovereign effort. To some, I say: wasting time and encircling the resistance strikes at the core of Lebanon's interests, and the political trade at the expense of national principles is shameful. It is a certainty that Lebanon is neither a menu nor a shooting range."
