Is the United States "Investing" in the Lebanese Army?

Is the United States

U.S. sources close to the Pentagon have reported that the discussion regarding the role of the Lebanese army in the post-ceasefire phase in the south does not address the origin of American assistance to the military institution. They noted that Washington hopes the Lebanese government will agree to various proposals to intensify the army's deployment along Lebanon's southern border and that a new agreement on the army's role could open the door to increased material and logistical support. Regarding rumors about the potential cessation of U.S. aid to "enhance the living conditions" of the army, the sources clarified to the newspaper "Al-Akhbar" that the United States is fully aware that the decision for the army's deployment in the south is a political one made by the government and major political forces, and it will not happen without the approval of "Hezbollah." Therefore, the United States will not risk its significant investment in the army if plans to adjust security measures in the south fail.
