The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nabih Berri, received the French Ambassador to Lebanon, Anne Giraud, at the second presidency in Ain al-Tineh, where they discussed general situations, recent developments, and the bilateral relations between the two countries. He also met with Iraqi Minister of Youth and Sports Ahmed Muhammad Al-Mubarak and the accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports in the caretaker government, George Klass, and the head of the Iraqi embassy delegation in Lebanon, Naim Al-Nasrawi. The Iraqi minister conveyed the greetings of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani to President Berri. The meeting addressed ways to cooperate between Lebanon and Iraq in various fields, especially in youth and sports, as well as Iraq's support for Lebanon as the capital of Arab youth.
Berri also met with the Nigerian Ambassador to Lebanon, Goni Modo Zana, where they discussed general situations and the relations between Lebanon and Nigeria.
In the afternoon, Berri chaired a meeting of the Council of Representatives' Bureau, attended by Deputy Speaker Elias Bou Saab and the secretaries, deputies Hadi Abu al-Hassan and Alain Aoun, deputies Michel Moussa and Karim Kabara, Secretary-General of the House of Representatives Adnan Daher, and Director of the Joint Administration in the council, Nwof Hamiyeh. The Speaker of the House had called for a legislative session at 11 AM on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, to discuss the projects and proposals listed on the agenda.
