Member of the "Development and Liberation" bloc, MP Mohammad Khawaja, indicated that "in the end, an Israeli ground offensive is unavoidable. However, the Israeli army is currently hesitating due to several reasons related to the cost of this battle and the lack of harmony between political and military leadership." He pointed out that he expects "more massacres to be committed by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip."
In a conversation with "Wardna," Khawaja explained that "the difference between today's Gaza war and previous Arab-Israeli wars is that the U.S. was a partner in the past, whereas in today's conflict, the United States is leading the war."
He noted that "the ground war is very costly, and the Israeli army is forced to engage in it. Its ability to expand in this war depends on two main factors: the Israeli army's ability to penetrate and the resistance's ability to repel the aggression. I am confident that the resistance in Gaza will endure."
Regarding the election of a president, Khawaja affirmed to "Wardna" that they are in favor of electing a president "sooner rather than later." He emphasized that "the initiative launched by President Berri for dialogue under the Parliament dome and to hold consecutive sessions of the House of Representatives until a president is elected was a practical and concise initiative. However, the opposition it faced, particularly from most Christian blocs, was a significant mistake, as it deprived everyone of the opportunity to elect a president."
