Court Frees Artist Elissa from Watary Company

The Lebanese judiciary today, Friday, ruled in favor of artist Elissa against the distribution company responsible for releasing her songs. The civil judge Ralph Karkabi, overseeing urgent matters in Metn, issued a decision rejecting the objection submitted by Watary Offshore S.A.L. He reaffirmed his previous ruling from June 13, 2023, stating that Watary Offshore is no longer the exclusive distributor for artist Elissa, prohibiting it from accessing her channels and collecting any revenues from the songs "From the First Minute" and "Just Me," and obligating the company to hand over the accounts owed to Elissa as well as all passwords. Consequently, Watary Offshore has lost its status as the exclusive distributor.

The company had unlawfully removed Elissa's song "The Contract" from YouTube, leading to today’s ruling, which liberates Elissa from the control of the company over her song distribution. Elissa had filed a lawsuit against the company through her representative, Mark Habqa, nearly a year ago.

It is worth mentioning that the Lebanese star participated in the opening ceremony of the "Middle Beast Music Festival," which was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Elissa shared new behind-the-scenes shots with her followers, where she shone in a gray jacket and wide pants. The artist's pants quickly became a trending topic on social media after internet users noticed something unusual in the pocket area. Some speculated that her pants might have torn, and she was unaware as she posted her photos on her official accounts, while others dismissed this notion, suggesting that the design of the pants might be intentional.
