The Ministry of Interior in the government of Osama Hamad, assigned by the Libyan House of Representatives, denied the news about the "death of Member of Parliament Ibrahim Al-Dursi," confirming that security agencies have begun an investigation to understand the circumstances of his disappearance. The head of the Security Media Office at the Ministry of Interior, Colonel Mohamed Aboulmousa, stated in a statement that "the Benghazi Security Directorate received a report on Friday afternoon regarding the disappearance of Al-Dursi, following a burglary at his home late Thursday night." He added that "in light of this incident, the Ministry of Interior has tasked the director of Benghazi Security, the Internal Security Agency, and the Criminal Investigation Department to open a comprehensive and urgent investigation to clarify the circumstances of his disappearance."
A Libyan parliamentary source had previously confirmed that communication with Al-Dursi had been lost since Thursday evening, adding that his car was found in the Sidi Faraj area east of Benghazi. The source noted that "Al-Dursi attended the celebration in Benghazi yesterday to commemorate the Battle of Dignity and was well until after 8 PM, after which his phones stopped answering and then were turned off." He indicated that subsequently "the relevant security authorities in Benghazi were notified to search for Al-Dursi and determine his fate."
