Cardiologist and internist Dr. Andrei Kondrakhin announced that "consuming energy drinks negatively affects the heart and the nervous system, leading to bodily deterioration." In an interview with RT, he stated: "Energy drinks are essentially pure stimulants; they contain high levels of caffeine, a large amount of carbohydrates, and vitamins for a strong alertness." According to him, prolonged stimulation of the body in this manner leads to negative consequences primarily affecting the heart and the nervous system. He noted, "These drinks cause an increase in blood pressure, myocardial infarction, stroke, as well as psychological disorders. If a person does not rest and always consumes stimulants, it becomes difficult to control them due to the significant burden on the nervous system." The doctor particularly emphasizes the high caffeine content in energy drinks. He pointed out that if a can of an energy drink contains 150 mg of caffeine, and a person drinks 3-4 cans, they will consume 450-600 mg of pure caffeine in a day, leading to significant exhaustion of the body. Therefore, if people do not realize they are harming their own health, legislation should be enacted regarding this matter.
