The General Directorate of Islamic Waqfs announced in a statement that the electoral bodies for electing members of the Islamic Shura Council in the Lebanese Republic will take place next Sunday, October 1, from 9 AM to 1 PM, with polling stations closing in Beirut and the Lebanese governorates. Sheikh Bakr Al-Rifai, the Mufti of Baalbek-Hermel, noted in a “Friday Sermon” message that “Lebanon has enjoyed, for many years, the oversight of regional and international bodies while taking an inappropriate path in managing financial and banking institutions, in addition to neglect and recklessness.” He pointed out that “the elections for the Shura Council will be smooth, clean, and fruitful like those of the Mufti, and Dar Al-Fatwa remains neutral regarding all candidates. Elections in the institutions of Dar Al-Fatwa represent a positive model with no disputes or differences, and they are more like a democratic celebration in which everyone agrees on what unites rather than divides, benefiting the country and the nation.”
In a statement, the Future Movement’s Media Affairs Office clarified the following in response to an article published by the newspaper “Al-Akhbar” titled “Shura Council Elections: Daryan Washes His Hands of the ‘Future’ List”:
First: There is no list for the “Future Movement” in the elections for the Islamic Shura Council.
Second: Among the candidates on all lists, there is no one with an organizational affiliation with the “Future Movement”; rather, there are esteemed personalities, friends, and competent individuals from Beirut whom we value equally.
Third: The “Future Movement” confirms that the Beirut umbrella embraces all candidates for the “Shura Council” elections without exception, under the roof of the interest of Beirut and its people.
Fourth: The “Future Movement” emphasizes for the thousandth time that the relationship with Dar Al-Fatwa and its leadership is based on mutual respect and constructive cooperation.
