The Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar has launched the "mobile library" in collaboration with Mowasalat Karwa, at Umm Al-Amad Model School for Boys, coinciding with World Book Day and Copyright Day. The aim is to create enjoyable educational environments, diversify reading methods, and enhance social communication among students in public schools.
Maha Zayed Al-Ruwaili, Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs at the Ministry, stated that "this initiative aligns with the ministry's directions and its approach to spread and enhance the culture of reading and to utilize free time outside school hours with such purposeful activities, which contribute significantly to developing students' personalities and linguistic skills and knowledge." She pointed out that this initiative would help provide a learning environment outside the classroom, creating an attractive and motivating learning experience where students engage in reading for enjoyment and benefit, participate in dialogue sessions, group readings, and other exciting activities offered in the bus library, creating special moments that strengthen social bonds among students and their peers.
Mowasalat Karwa is regarded as one of the leading and distinguished companies in the country, praising its role and collaboration with the ministry in implementing the mobile library initiative, which serves as a model for community cooperation and partnership. The company expressed its gratitude for supporting the ministry's programs and activities that serve the community.
In turn, Ahmed Hassan Al-Abedli, Acting CEO of Mowasalat Karwa, stated that "the launch of the mobile library project and the mutual cooperation between the two parties reflects our commitment to cooperating with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to achieve our shared vision of transforming the learning experience into a unique and distinguished one." He mentioned that Karwa aims to facilitate access to learning and enjoyment through the mobile library bus, equipped with books, games, educational tools, and tablets, enabling us to transform every part of Qatar into a fun and distinctive classroom to enrich knowledge in line with Qatar's Vision 2030. "Our goal is to contribute to transforming the traditional learning experience into a more attractive one and to facilitate access to it, so we contribute to building a generation that enjoys learning, excellence, and creativity."
It is worth noting that the mobile library is a bus that accommodates thirty students and is divided into two floors, containing various sections. The first floor features a reading area with numerous books and learning resources, as well as interactive games available through smart tablets. The second floor has a viewing area with a smart TV that displays interactive questions for students, such as historical questions about Qatar, its landmarks, rulers, World Cup stadiums, and much more.
To achieve the desired interaction from the mobile library's launch, the bus will tour public and private schools, summer camps, the top ten landmarks in Qatar, and the top three educational areas, according to the proposed schedule and distribution plan. The bus can also be reconfigured to suit the age group of students, whether they are in elementary, intermediate, or secondary school. The Ministry of Education and Higher Education had prepared for the trial launch in collaboration with Mowasalat Karwa in July of 2023, visiting a number of summer centers to gauge student interest in the bus concept and to take feedback into account for content development.
