Today, Tuesday, the head of the Progressive Socialist Party, Deputy Timour Jumblatt, received a delegation from the Amal Movement at his office in Clemenceau. The delegation included member of the Development and Liberation bloc, Deputy Mohammad Khawaja, former Deputy Ali Bazi, Dr. Ali Rahal, and unionist Bassam Talas, in the presence of members of the Democratic Gathering bloc, Deputies Akram Shehayeb, Wael Abou Faour, and Faisal Al-Sayegh, as well as the party's Secretary-General, Zafer Nasser, and Jumblatt's advisor, Hussam Harb.
The delegation congratulated Jumblatt, on behalf of the Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri and the Amal Movement, on his election as president of the Progressive Socialist Party and the success of the party's forty-ninth general conference. This was an opportunity to affirm the strong relationship between the two sides and to continue communication and cooperation in various fields, as well as joint efforts at the national level to enhance dialogue, rapprochement, and reach the necessary agreements to complete constitutional obligations, foremost of which is the election of a president for the republic.
For his part, Deputy Jumblatt thanked the delegation, directing his greetings to Speaker Berri for his national role and efforts, stressing the continuation of this relationship above all circumstances.
Following the meeting, Shehayeb stated, "We were honored today, along with the party president, to meet our brothers in the Amal Movement. The relationship with the Amal Movement and President Berri is historical, having gone through difficult times during the war and better times in the peace phase in Lebanon, along with several milestones that we acknowledge and affirm, and this relationship will continue between the two parties. Timour Jumblatt expressed his respect and appreciation for Berri’s role, emphasizing the continued importance of this relationship."
For his part, Deputy Khawaja noted that "our visit today is to convey congratulations and greetings from President Berri to Party President Timour Walid Jumblatt, wishing him success in the role he has taken on. It was an occasion that brought together the two great figures, Berri and Jumblatt, reflecting this relationship on the Amal Movement and the Socialist Party. We are very keen on it and will spare no effort to deepen the relationship between the two organizations for the benefit of Lebanon and the Lebanese people."
