Israeli officials indicated that Hamas leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, is not hiding in Rafah, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has prioritized Israeli military operations there. According to a report by the "Times of Israel," the latest information about Sinwar's whereabouts suggests that he is located in tunnels around Khan Younis.
The Israeli newspaper noted that "Netanyahu has raised the potential Israeli military operation in Rafah to the top of his public agenda, believing that targeting Hamas leadership remains a key objective of the Israeli war as well."
Furthermore, the two officials who spoke with the "Times of Israel" could not confirm Sinwar's exact location at present but cited recent intelligence assessments placing the Hamas leader in tunnels in the Khan Younis area, approximately 8 kilometers north of Rafah city. A third Israeli official confirmed that "Sinwar, whom Israel has made a key element in the destruction of Hamas, is still in Gaza."
