Hajjazi After Meeting with Berri: Disrupting Dialogue is Disrupting the Solution

On Monday, Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri received the Secretary-General of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, Ali Hajjazi, at the second presidential palace in Ain al-Tineh, where they discussed the general situation and political developments.

After the meeting, Hajjazi stated: "It was natural for us to start our discussion by remembering the disappearance of Imam Sayyed Musa Sadr and emphasizing the need to urgently reach the truth that has been concealed for many years. We need the wisdom of the absent imam, his intellect, his patriotism, and the rationality of this great man, whom we miss in this sensitive phase, especially when sectarian rhetoric prevails."

He added: "Regarding another topic, we discussed the need to expedite the election of a president for the republic, and there was a consensus on the fact that the only solution to reach results is through dialogue—only dialogue—without relying entirely on external factors. Yes, the external factor is a contributing element, but the main importance lies in the internal dialogue, hoping that some political forces will learn that there is no alternative to dialogue and that disrupting dialogue is indeed disrupting the solution. It delays reaching the necessary breakthroughs, especially given the current living and economic conditions."

He concluded: "We also addressed the importance of the return of Syrian-Arab relations and the significance of continuing this path to serve the interests of this nation as a whole. The experience of confrontation and fighting has contributed to the destruction of many Arab countries and has caused significant harm to the future of this nation. I hope that the logic of dialogue and understanding prevails in all arenas, becoming the way out of the dark tunnel we live in Lebanon and that many Arab countries are experiencing."
