The spokesman for the Libyan army, Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari, confirmed that the Chadian army has not conducted any ground intervention in Libya, emphasizing that the videos regarding confrontations between the army and Chadian opposition forces within Libya are not accurate. Al-Mismari stated in a television interview that "the Chadian army is confronting the opposition within its territories near Wadi Al-Talh, which is about 60 kilometers from the Libyan border." He revealed that "the Chadian army carried out airstrikes within Libyan territory over the past two days, as part of an operation targeting some vehicles fleeing from Chad."
Al-Mismari explained that "the only airstrike occurred within Libyan territory, approximately 40 to 50 kilometers inside, and no Chadian ground forces have crossed into Libyan territory." He pointed out that "the border between the two countries is long, stretching 1,100 kilometers, and includes difficult mountainous areas that require constant monitoring."
Al-Mismari confirmed that the Chadian army has not approached the Libyan border, adding that "if there is coordination with the Chadian army, it will be through the commander of the General Command forces, Khalifa Haftar, and we understand the sensitivity and requirements of the combat operations for the Chadian army."
He further stated: "If the Chadian military were to enter Libyan territory, it would be to pursue the Chadian opposition; however, we fundamentally prevent the entry of these expelled groups." Al-Mismari stressed that "the border sites are currently under surveillance, and there is no direct threat to Libyan territory from this area. We have sent units to the border with Chad in anticipation of any emergencies, especially since we do not want the return of terrorists or breaches of Libyan sovereignty."
This comes the day after the air force affiliated with the General Command of the Libyan army, led by Marshal Khalifa Haftar, targeted Chadian opposition fighters on the Libyan border. Additionally, the General Command of the Libyan army announced on Friday the launch of a wide-ranging, precise military operation with specific objectives in the southern border area to secure the country's borders.
