The Saudi Ministry of Health has announced that it "has not recorded any new cases with symptoms of food poisoning during the last 5 days of the outbreak recently detected in Riyadh," noting that the total number of reported cases has reached 75. The ministry stated in a statement that "50 of the affected individuals have been confirmed to be diagnosed with 'toxic food poisoning'," adding that "43 cases have recovered and been discharged from the hospital safely," while 11 cases are hospitalized, and 20 cases are receiving care in the intensive care unit, in addition to one fatality.
It confirmed that out of the 75 reported cases, "69 are citizens and 6 are residents." It highlighted that all these cases "are linked to a single-source food poisoning outbreak," and emphasized that "the collaboration of relevant government entities has successfully controlled the outbreak."
Earlier, the municipality of the Saudi capital Riyadh revealed details about the food poisoning cases mentioned by the Ministry of Health and decided to close the establishment responsible for the incident. The municipality stated in a report: "Field health inspection teams closed the branches of the establishment and its main laboratory supplying its branches in the Riyadh area, taking necessary measures according to health protocols for such emergency cases. They also suspended delivery services through the establishment or applications, and the municipality teams have started operations in coordination with the Ministry of Health, the General Food Authority, and the Public Health Authority."
