Member of the "Development and Liberation" bloc, MP Ayoub Hamid, indicated that "rescuing the Lebanese Army and its naval forces from a group of Syrian refugees is an act that Lebanon is undertaking for free; however, it forms a barrier against the human influx and the massive displacement that the sister nation of Syria suffers due to the blockade and conspiracy against its internal unity and the return of safety and stability within its borders. This comes at a time when the Lebanese Prime Minister receives praise from the highest levels of the United Nations for Lebanon's role in hosting the refugees."
During the annual graduation ceremony for the "Pioneers of Hope" class at the Islamic University, sponsored by Speaker Nabih Berri, Hamid asked: "What has the European Union done regarding the Syrian displacement in Lebanon, preventing it from stopping this bleeding?" He pointed out that we hear the President of France rejecting the acceptance of a number of migrants that Italy can no longer bear, as well as Germany, which can no longer accommodate more migrants. "This is the reality at the level of the European Union," he said, adding, "Let us see this hypocrisy from those who want Lebanon to become a quagmire and to gradually wither until it can no longer sustain itself normally or escape its crises, but rather to remain in a state between slumber and wakefulness."
He concluded by discussing the dialogue that some vehemently refuse or manipulate words to evade true dialogue, reaffirming that dialogue is the only way to revive the current reality on all levels. He called for everyone, amid this siege that wounds us all, to come together for understanding and dialogue to recover from this bitter reality.
