Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, announced today that Jordan has a "significant role within the Arab-Islamic committee led by Saudi Arabia in the regional and international efforts calling for an end to the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip to stop the bloodshed and prevent the displacement of Palestinians." He added during the joint ministerial meeting between Jordan and the Gulf Cooperation Council member states that "Jordan is at the forefront of countries advocating for a solution to the Palestinian issue based on its firm stance on this primary Arab-Islamic cause and the Hashemite Jordanian guardianship over Jerusalem and its holy sites." He pointed out that the events in the Palestinian territories "are the primary focal point of the current crises, and we must all continue joint coordination to preserve security and peace in the region and achieve the long-awaited just peace."
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi, called on the international community to take a firm stance to resolve the Gaza crisis. Al Budaiwi affirmed "the council's support for the Palestinian people," emphasizing the need for "an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, delivery of aid, and an end to crimes against them."
Additionally, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry stated that "there is no solution to the ongoing conflict except through the establishment of a Palestinian state," noting that the Gaza crisis has led to "serious regional conflicts, and the escalation in Gaza has extended to the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb," stressing that "Arab coordination is essential to solving the challenges in the region."
