Abu Dhabi Enhances Awareness About Drug Risks

The Abu Dhabi Police established an awareness platform regarding the dangers of drugs at the "Central Mall" in the Al Falah area of Abu Dhabi to enhance awareness about the harms of drug abuse and its negative impacts, in collaboration with the "We All Police" system of the Community Police Department. During his visit to the platform, the Director of the Drug Control Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police, Brigadier Tahir Ghareeb Al Dhaheri, emphasized the police's interest in educating the residents, both citizens and expatriates, in the Al Falah area about the dangers of this serious problem. He noted that the awareness efforts will take place daily from 10 AM to 10 PM for a duration of six months at "Central Mall," where visitors can learn about the anti-drug efforts through electronic awareness brochures and get acquainted with the "Hope Opportunity" service, which allows drug users and addicts to apply for treatment through the implementation and approval of therapeutic, preventive, and educational programs according to the best global practices and standards.

Brigadier Al Dhaheri pointed out the directorate's commitment to continuing awareness initiatives to protect and safeguard community members from the dangers of drugs as part of the country’s comprehensive strategy and efforts to update laws and legislations. He confirmed the importance of keeping pace with modern developments and utilizing the best technologies to achieve optimal security rates, disrupt drug traffickers’ plans, and thwart drug promotion operations according to practical plans and continuous monitoring. He emphasized the crucial role of families in promoting proper education, awareness, and guidance, working to contain the danger of addiction, guiding their children towards safety, and urged the necessity of working together as a team to effectively address this problem and mitigate the resulting harms and risks to the community.
