Britney Spears admitted to feeling a sense of "strangeness about being single" following her divorce. Spears married model and fitness trainer Sam Asghari in June 2022, after a six-year relationship. A year into their marriage, Asghari, 29, filed for divorce from the pop star, known for her hit song "Toxic," citing "irreconcilable differences."
In a recent statement on her Instagram account, 42-year-old Britney spoke about her emotional state, saying, "Being single gives me a very strange feeling. I've realized that I don't treat myself well. I easily allow myself to be manipulated and show my emotions right away, but I will definitely change all of that."
She continued: "I need to stop and reflect on myself and ask if this is good for me? I love routines and usually do the same things every day... I feel bored but also scared of many things... the way I live my life is purely my choice... Many have intervened in it... but now I know it’s okay to be selfish in my private life and enjoy it, that's wonderful."
Rumors about marital problems between Spears and Asghari began in March of this year when they were seen in photos not wearing their wedding rings. Although Asghari's agent denied these rumors at the time, their relationship ended less than five months later when Asghari filed for divorce after 14 months of marriage.
In his first statement after the divorce announcement, Asghari said he and Spears "will keep the love and respect they have for each other," adding that "requesting privacy in this situation seems unreasonable." Before her marriage to Asghari, Spears was married to dancer Kevin Federline, 45, from 2004 to 2007, and they have two sons, 18-year-old Sean Preston and 17-year-old Jayden James Federline.
