Egyptian officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Intelligence Agency have made contacts with the United States to contain Israeli signals suggesting escalation. A senior Egyptian official told "Al-Akhbar" that discussions with Washington focused on the "catastrophic consequences" for various parties if war breaks out on the Lebanese front. According to the same Egyptian official, Washington seeks to prevent the expansion of the war and believes that the issue today is no longer about who will fire the "first shot," but rather about the repercussions that will occur in the absence of a clear vision that could stop the war should it erupt. Egyptian officials have heard from the Americans that they are preparing to send a high-level delegation urgently to meet with Israeli officials and embark on a regional tour aimed at preventing the outbreak of war. Some of these delegations will be public, while the head of the Egyptian Intelligence, Abbas Kamel, is expected to play a larger role concerning the Lebanese issue in the coming days, which may lead to an Egyptian intelligence delegation visiting Beirut soon, according to "Al-Akhbar."
