A woman doused the face of British politician Nigel Farage, the new leader of the Reform Party, with a drink she was holding in protest against comments he made during the launch of his parliamentary campaign. This incident is reminiscent of an attack he faced in 2019.
Farage was seen leaving the event in Clacton covered in what appeared to be some sort of "milkshake," as footage showed the woman surprising him by splashing the drink on his face.
The incident occurred after Farage, the new leader of the right-wing Reform Party, described the city as "the most patriotic" in Britain while continuing his criticism of the Conservative Party, accusing it of betraying voters' trust ahead of the upcoming elections on July 4.
Farage's candidacy for the Essex seat follows a sudden reversal of his previous decision not to run for parliament. The 60-year-old dramatically returned to frontline politics and was also appointed as the leader of Reform UK, replacing Richard Tice.
Earlier, Farage called for net immigration in the UK to be "zero" and defended controversial remarks about Muslims, reiterating his view that an increasing number of British Muslims "do not embrace British values," which was described as "ignorance and offense." He also defended allegations that there are certain streets in Britain where "no one speaks English."
The 60-year-old has pledged to lead a "political revolution" against the Conservatives and Labour Party following his unexpected announcement that he would lead Reform over the next five years.
