House Speaker Nabih Berri received Deputy Speaker Elias Boussab at the second presidential residence in Ain al-Tineh, where they discussed the latest political developments and field updates "in light of the escalating Israeli aggression on Gaza and Lebanon, as well as legislative affairs." After the meeting, Boussab stated: "We discussed with President Berri the recent developments in Lebanon, particularly the Israeli assaults, from which we have become accustomed to the barbarism and terrorist operations against citizens, children, women, and the innocent. What occurred yesterday, unfortunately, resulted in the death of three children and injured their mother, and this was preceded by the morning assault on the scouting group, which are acts we have come to expect from the criminal acts perpetrated by the Israeli enemy. Of course, this follows the assaults on children and women in Gaza, which places the responsibility for expanding the war squarely on the Israeli enemy."
He added: "The second message is directed at the international community, which is obstructing the ceasefire in Gaza. Any partner in hindering the ceasefire is complicit in the escalation carried out by the Israeli enemy and the assaults conducted either in Lebanon or in Gaza." Boussab concluded: "There was a discussion on the developments, how things might unfold, and the efforts being made by President Berri with all those he communicates with, in order to enable Lebanon and distance it from this war that no one wants. However, if war breaks out, it will be clear who the aggressor is, which leads to the necessity for a national Lebanese consensus to confront the Israeli enemy."
Berri also discussed the latest developments in Lebanon and the region during his meeting with Ayatollah Mohammad Hassan Akhtari, President of the Supreme Council of the World Assembly for Ahlul Bayt (AS), and the accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mostafa Amani. The Speaker also received the Egyptian Ambassador Yasser Alawi, where they reviewed the latest developments in Lebanon and the region as well as bilateral relations between the two countries.
