Moroccan Minister of Equipment and Water Nizar Baraka reported on Tuesday that 69 new water springs have emerged due to the 2023 Morocco earthquake. In a presentation before members of the Infrastructure, Energy, Mines, and Environment Committee, Baraka noted that "after the Al-Haouz earthquake, changes were observed in the flow of some springs, with an increase in water discharge in some while it decreased in others, and new springs appeared while others rejuvenated." The government official stated that "to understand the impact of this earthquake on water springs, the Ministry of Equipment and Water took immediate measures in coordination with the Royal Center for Remote Sensing, and based on the data received and the interpretation of satellite images, 69 new water springs were identified."
