The Minister of Tourism in the caretaker government, Walid Nassar, has invited all media outlets to attend and cover the celebration of Douma's victory in the initiative for the Best Tourist Villages in the World for 2023 by the United Nations Tourism Organization. This event will be graced by the presence of the organization's Secretary-General, Zurab Pololikashvili, who will visit Lebanon for the first time for this occasion. Minister Nassar will welcome him at 8:30 PM on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, in the arrival hall of the VIP lounge at Beirut International Airport.
The celebration will last for three days, starting with a press conference held by Minister Nassar in the presence of Pololikashvili at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 16, 2024, in the Leila Solh Hamada Hall at the Ministry of Tourism headquarters in Hamra, Beirut. This will be followed by a tourist tour in Byblos and the Kfardebian area.
On the second day, the events will culminate in a main celebration in Douma, which will include a tourist program featuring the inauguration of the renovated old market of Douma, starting at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 17, 2024.
