The Speaker of the Parliament, Nabih Berri, received the UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Lebanon, Imran Riza, at the second presidential headquarters in Ain al-Tineh. They discussed the United Nations programs in Lebanon, particularly the file of Syrian refugees and the repercussions and damages resulting from Israel's continued aggression against Lebanon, especially in the southern border villages and towns.

Riza expressed appreciation for the efforts of President Nabih Berri and the parliamentary council, especially for his endorsement yesterday of the parliamentary recommendation regarding the Syrian displacement crisis in Lebanon and how to resolve it. He considered that this recommendation shifted the crisis from a tense street situation to a national parliamentary consensus as a roadmap for resolution, affirming that he will carry this sentiment to the upcoming conference in Brussels next week.

Regarding the ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon, particularly in the southern regions, Riza emphasized the role of the United Nations in contributing to assessments and field surveys of all locations, facilities, residential, agricultural, forest, industrial, and health areas that have been and continue to be affected by Israeli assaults.

For his part, the Speaker provided the UN official with all completed statistics in this regard from the National Council for Scientific Research. President Berri reiterated Lebanon's commitment to UN Resolution 1701, which Israel has violated more than 30,000 times since its issuance in 2006.

The Speaker also received former Deputy Speaker Elie Ferzli, where they discussed general conditions and the latest political and field developments. Additionally, Speaker Nabih Berri signed the recommendation approved by the parliament yesterday and referred it to the presidency of the government.
