Putin at His Inauguration Ceremony: Serving Russia Will Remain My Supreme Goal (Video)

Moscow witnessed the inauguration of Vladimir Putin as President of the country for the fifth time on Tuesday. After taking the oath of office, President Putin stated in his speech: "In these moments, I thank from my heart all citizens across Russia, and I bow in respect to the defenders of Russia and those fighting under the framework of the special military operation in Ukraine."

Putin pointed out that "the Constitution stipulates the protection of the Russian people, which is a significant responsibility that has defined my work in the past and will define my work in the future. The interests of Russia will remain a top priority, and serving Russia will be my supreme goal."

He added: "At this stage, where we face serious challenges, we understand the importance and necessity of defending our national interests more strongly. I am fully confident that we will overcome all challenges, defend our freedom, traditions, and values, and unite all people and authorities for these goals."

Putin confirmed that "we will remain open to dealing with all countries that see Russia as a reliable partner, and this is the global majority. We do not reject dealings with Western countries; however, the hostility they direct against us is what hinders that. Dialogue on strategic security and stability is possible, but not from a position of power, but based on principles of equality."

He indicated that "we will continue to shape a multipolar world; we must be self-sufficient and open new avenues for our state, as has happened repeatedly in history, from which we always learn."

The Russian president emphasized that "the Russian system must be robust and stable to ensure structured, gradual development and the unity of the people. At the same time, stability does not mean stagnation; we must adapt to the challenges of the era and societal changes based on the values of loyalty and commitment."

He said: "We will do everything possible to raise new generations that will uphold the traditions of all Russian peoples. Russia is a state of unified civilization and multiculturalism," noting that "I will do everything I can to defend the homeland with all my heart, and we carry the responsibility of preserving a thousand years of civilization."

On his part, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the ideas in the president's inauguration speech "are the president's own preparation."

Peskov stated: "Of course, specialists help with the wording of the speech, but the main ideas contained in the speech are authored by the president." Putin won the last presidential election with the support of over 87 percent of the voters.
