Arab delegations have begun to arrive in Lebanon to participate in the official ceremony taking place tomorrow, Friday, at the invitation of the Ministry of Culture and under the patronage and attendance of Prime Minister Najib Mikati, to declare the city of Tripoli as the Capital of Arab Culture. Among those arriving last night was the Director-General of the Arab Organization for Culture, Education, and Science, Minister Mohammed Al-Ammer, who was welcomed on behalf of the Minister of Culture in the caretaker government, Muhammad Wissam Al-Murtada, by a delegation including Shauqi Sasin, the minister's assistant and head of the National Commission for UNESCO, Bushra Baghdadi, representative of the Lebanese Republic in the Executive Council of ALECSO, and Roni Alfa, the minister's advisor and member of the National Commission for UNESCO. Minister Al-Ammer expressed his "delight at coming to Lebanon" and affirmed that "the Arab Organization has made and will continue to make necessary efforts to ensure the success of the Tripoli Capital of Arab Culture event for 2024 in cooperation with the Lebanese Ministry of Culture." It is noteworthy that several Arab countries have confirmed to the Minister of Culture their intention to organize cultural weeks in Tripoli during this year, including Qatar, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Palestine, Syria, and Mauritania, with other Arab nations to follow.
