Samsung has launched a new update for its flagship smartphones that adds Arabic to the supported languages in the AI features collectively referred to as Galaxy AI. The company had announced back in April its intention to add Arabic, along with Indonesian and Russian, to the list of supported languages in its AI features, in addition to the already supported languages such as English, Chinese, Hindi, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, and others.
This means that Samsung device owners will now be able to use the direct translation feature, which is one of the AI capabilities within Galaxy AI, in Arabic, facilitating translations to and from Arabic in voice calls, text messages, and live conversations via real-time translation.
Samsung plans to add more languages, including Romanian, Turkish, Dutch, and Swedish, to the supported languages as well. The company offers various other AI-based features, such as the ability to generate messages in conversations or improve their phrasing according to user preferences, as well as summarizing text and voice notes or converting them to text or translating them. Additionally, it can summarize web pages, articles, and news while browsing.
The South Korean company provides AI features for its flagship devices from the Galaxy S24, S23 series, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9. Users are advised to download the latest updates released by the company for eligible devices either through the settings app or the Galaxy Store.
Samsung stated that expanding language support in Galaxy AI will allow a larger number of its device users to communicate beyond language barriers. The features offered by Samsung reduce the need for external applications that provide similar functions, which are usually available through specific subscriptions, noting that these new features from Samsung remain free for now.
