Unknown Fate of Libyan Parliament Member Who Disappeared Under Mysterious Circumstances

The fate of Libyan parliament member Ibrahim Al-Dersi remains shrouded in mystery, as it has been reported that he has been missing since Thursday evening in the city of Benghazi. This uncertainty is compounded by the lack of updates from the authorities in eastern Libya regarding the investigation into the incident, with no information available about him.

Contact with Al-Dersi was lost on Thursday evening after he attended a military parade organized by the Libyan National Army in commemoration of the tenth anniversary of Operation Dignity. His vehicle was found east of Benghazi, and his home was reportedly burglarized, with local sources suggesting the possibility of his abduction by unknown parties.

Al-Dersi's disappearance has captured public attention in Libya over the past few hours, with conflicting reports regarding his fate, amidst calls for the relevant authorities to search for him and investigate the circumstances of his abduction or disappearance.

In this context, the United Nations mission expressed its concern regarding the kidnapping of Deputy Ibrahim Al-Dersi, urging the authorities to locate him, release him immediately, and conduct a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of his disappearance, holding those responsible accountable under the law.

In turn, the parliament has called on the Attorney General's office to investigate the incident and bring the culprits to justice, and for the security agencies under the government of Osama Hamad to exert efforts to clarify his status and ensure his safe return. They condemned cases of kidnapping, enforced disappearance, and assault, regardless of their source or victim, as violations of the law, Sharia, and ethics.

The Ministry of Interior of the parliament-commissioned government initiated an investigation into the incident on Friday after receiving reports of Deputy Ibrahim Al-Dersi's disappearance and the burglary at his home, denying rumors about his death.
