A family court has granted a divorce for harm in favor of a wife whose "Zamalek-supporting" husband repeatedly beat her without reason every time Zamalek lost a match. The husband, a football fanatic, routinely assaulted his wife whenever his favorite team "Zamalek" lost a game, blaming her for bringing bad luck or "misfortune" to the team, leading to severe injuries.
Proving Abuse and Sentencing
Lawyer Noha El-Gandy stated that she was able to document the wife's injuries, "Laila A," in official reports multiple times, resulting in two previous prison sentences for the husband: one for a year and another for six months. Despite these jail sentences, the husband continued to abuse his wife for the same reasons, prompting her to file a "divorce for harm" case in court to end the cycle of violence against her. The court ruled in her favor, granting her the divorce after confirming the repeated instances of abuse.
He Knew She Supported Al-Ahly Before Marriage
The wife expressed that she did not anticipate any of this violent behavior from her future husband during their engagement, as he was aware that she supported Al-Ahly. Despite this knowledge, he showed no objection and proceeded with the marriage. She noted that, although she knew he was a "Zamalek" fan, she did not realize he was a "fanatic," and that this would lead to the violence she experienced for a full five years of marriage, even in front of their children.
