Following the French announcement of the postponement of the Paris conference aimed at supporting and aiding the Lebanese army due to conflicting schedules and interests of the invited countries, and the need for further preparation, discussions in Beirut arose about a potential visit by Army Commander General Joseph Aoun to France. It was mentioned that a meeting would be hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron, including the military chiefs of France, Qatar, and Lebanon. However, a concerned Lebanese source denied to "Al-Anbaa" that General Joseph Aoun traveled to the French capital (Paris) yesterday, stating that the visit would have taken place had the support conference for the army been scheduled, but since it was postponed, the reasons for the visit no longer exist. If later there are needs that require such a visit to secure basic necessities for the army, he would not hesitate to undertake it.
The source indicated that international and Arab attention is now focusing on preparing for the Rome conference to support the army, which is being organized closely and quietly to achieve the desired outcomes. When the invitation for this conference is made, it is natural for the Lebanese army commander to participate in its activities, as the conference is dedicated to supporting and assisting the Lebanese army, which he heads. Furthermore, such a conference will allow him to hold meetings with officials and counterparts from countries that are accustomed to assisting Lebanon, without needing to make visits to these countries.
The source emphasized to "Al-Anbaa" that the list of requests from the army is well-known to the friendly and brotherly countries, relating to logistical and medical matters for the army's continued operation, as well as requests for fuel supplies for vehicles to carry out required operational tasks, which Qatar provides whenever there is an urgent need, in addition to ongoing financial support for military personnel.
