Masked Man Strangles and Assaults Woman... His Mother Reveals His Crime

A video has surfaced showing a masked man approaching a woman from behind with a belt in his hand around 3 a.m. in a New York street. He throws it around her neck and pulls her to the ground, dragging her between two parked cars, where he assaults her in a Bronx street. Later, he was arrested with the help of his mother, who discovered his crime.

The suspect's mother stated she stayed awake all night to convince her "sick son" to turn himself in to authorities. Beverly Parks, 56 years old, said, "I am his mother who turned him in. I facilitated his arrest. I discovered the horrific incident at 5:12 a.m. on Friday, and since then, I have been trying to make my son do the right thing... to surrender himself."

Police reported that Kashan Parks, 39, was arrested on Saturday and faced first-degree rape charges. According to American media, the unemployed father had been struggling with alcohol and drug issues in recent weeks after learning of his father's death last month in a hospital in Belize, according to his mother. She stated, "He has a one-year-old child. I made my son take responsibility for his actions, regardless of whether he was drunk, using drugs, or feeling sad. He made a mistake, and he has to deal with it."

Kashan Parks has been arrested twice previously, including for allegedly assaulting a 46-year-old woman in the Bronx and for riding a bus without paying.
