The General Directorate of General Security announced today, Monday, that its regional centers will stop receiving requests for the settlement of the status of Syrian nationals entering Lebanon through illegal means. This measure allows them to settle their status directly upon voluntary departure through border offices and centers, without the issuance of entry bans against them into Lebanon, until June 15, 2023, so they can re-enter legally according to the proper procedures.
For Syrians who entered Lebanon legally and violated residency regulations, "they can apply to the regional centers of General Security to settle their status within the specified conditions and according to the facilitations recently announced by the directorate, until June 30, 2023."
The General Directorate of General Security also emphasized the obligation of Syrian nationals to adhere to the residency regulations in Lebanon in all its aspects, stating that legal action will be taken against violators after the two specified dates.
Furthermore, investigations by the concerned agencies within the directorate revealed that "some citizens are issuing 'fake' commitments of responsibility for Syrians who are neither present with them nor working for them, and then they approach the regional centers to secure residencies for them, while these individuals work for others, on their own account, or are operating shops and commercial establishments without adhering to the content of the commitment, contrary to applicable laws and regulations."
The General Directorate of General Security urged citizens to adhere to the laws, particularly labor laws and residency regulations, and to avoid creating chaos in the labor market during these difficult circumstances that require protection for Lebanese labor from illegal competition, warning that they could face legal prosecution and precautionary administrative measures against them and their establishments.
