Lebanon's caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqati met with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock on Wednesday morning at the Grand Serail, discussing bilateral relations between the two countries, the situation in Gaza, and southern Lebanon. During the meeting, Miqati emphasized the importance of maintaining good relations with Germany, expressing gratitude for its support for Lebanon on all levels.
He stressed that "Lebanon respects all international resolutions, starting with the ceasefire agreement, aiming to achieve lasting stability in southern Lebanon," and called for support for the army to enable it to carry out its tasks. He stated, "It is time to find a permanent and just solution to the Palestinian issue, and thus begin a ceasefire and initiate an international path for a final and comprehensive solution based on the two-state solution."
The German minister highlighted the importance of "implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701." The meeting was attended by Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Minister Abdullah Bou Habib, the German Ambassador to Lebanon Kurt Georg Again, and the accompanying German delegation, along with Miqati's advisors, Ambassador Petros Asakar and Ziad Miqati.

President Miqati also met with UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Joanna Frontexkawa, who briefed him on a meeting scheduled for next week between the UN Secretary-General and all directors and officials of UN political programs worldwide. Frontexkawa also received details from Miqati regarding his message to the Secretary-General and the UN concerning Resolution 1701 and the situation in the south.

Furthermore, Miqati met with UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Lebanon, Imran Riza, discussing development programs and the 2024 development plan, in addition to economic and living conditions affecting Lebanese citizens, and reaffirming the ongoing cooperation between the UN and the Lebanese state.
