Al-Hilal has successfully surpassed Bayern Munich's record, taking a step closer to an unprecedented historical achievement globally, after winning against Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League. Al-Hilal defeated their hosts, Al-Ettifaq, 2-0 on Monday evening in the 21st round of the championship. The team, known as "the leader," achieved its 24th consecutive victory across all official competitions, surpassing Bayern Munich's record of 23 consecutive wins set in the 2022-2023 season under former coach Hansi Flick.
Al-Hilal has risen to fourth place on the list of teams with the longest winning streaks in history, matching the Brazilian team Coritiba (24 wins in 2011). The club needs four more wins in all competitions to break the record held by Welsh side New Saints (27 wins) in 2016. Ajax holds the second and third places with two different streaks of 26 matches in the 1971-1972 season and 25 matches in the 1994-1995 season.
To achieve this, Al-Hilal will need to defeat Al-Ittihad three times in the league and AFC Champions League, in addition to winning against Al-Riyadh in the local competition. Al-Hilal has only known victory since their draw with Damak (1-1) in the seventh round of the Saudi league on September 21. During this period, coach Jorge Jesus' team has won 14 league matches, seven in the Champions League, and three in the King's Cup.
Aside from this streak, Al-Hilal has not tasted defeat since the beginning of the current season across all competitions (29 wins and three draws). Notably, Al-Hilal has raised its points tally to 59 at the top of the Saudi league table, maintaining a seven-point lead over its closest competitor, Al-Nassr.
