Today, Wednesday, Speaker Nabih Berri received Deputy Speaker Elias Bou Saab at the second presidential headquarters in Ain El Tineh, where they discussed the developments in the general situation, particularly the political and field conditions, as well as legislative matters.
Berri also followed up on political developments during his meeting with former minister Wadi' Khazen, who said after the meeting: "I had the honor of visiting President Nabih Berri and discussing the latest developments. I praised the tremendous efforts he is making internally to achieve a balance between protecting national sovereignty and ensuring coexistence in light of Israel's ongoing aggression against Lebanon."
Khazen added: "He addressed the presidential issue, which I consider a national concern, and it has become his daily worry. His repeated calls for elections are merely to place everyone before their constitutional and national responsibilities, as this electoral obligation cannot be ignored because it is central to the duties of the council. He reiterated his call for all parties to meet, consult, and reach an understanding, as consultation alone is enough to ensure that no one is excluded and to end this stagnation dominating the presidential file."
Khazen continued: "President Berri emphasized that whenever a glimmer of hope appeared, he would not hesitate to overcome any obstacles that stand in the way, as he is determined at any time to hold the session. If the mentioned consensus is reached, it must receive all necessary support from international and regional references; otherwise, we would be as if inviting offers from abroad, compelling us to choose a president who does not meet Lebanese criteria."
Khazen concluded: "President Berri reiterated his full support and appreciation for the efforts of the ambassadors of the Quintet Group and encouraged the National Moderation Bloc and all good-hearted individuals in the country to continue their beneficial efforts, hoping that all these endeavors will yield good results for the country."
