Twelve people have died due to floods and landslides caused by heavy monsoonal rains in the Philippines. Media reports cited the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration stating that "Typhoon Karina is bringing strong winds of up to 155 kilometers per hour, intensifying the southwestern monsoon."
