Recently, Lebanese citizens have been increasingly complaining about the frequent malfunctions in electric cars, which have seen a steady rise on Lebanese roads, as consumers have turned to purchasing them amid the current economic crisis. Experts in automotive engineering noted that "owners of these vehicles are genuinely suffering from technical issues," explaining that "the primary reason lies in the fact that these electric and hybrid vehicles do not come with a manufacturer's warranty." They pointed out that "the batteries in these vehicles are manufactured according to specifications set by the manufacturer to fit only the vehicle they are designed for. Therefore, the battery can only be replaced through the manufacturer with an approved battery. This replacement is only available if the electric or hybrid car is purchased from an authorized representative of the global manufacturer." They expressed regret that "Lebanese consumers are unaware of their rights and the seller's obligations, such as requesting the manufacturer's warranty." Experts advised "Lebanese consumers, to avoid any problems, to ensure their peace of mind and investment by mandatorily verifying the existence of a manufacturer's warranty that covers Lebanon when purchasing electric and hybrid vehicles."
