Israeli media reported on Thursday that the police have agreed to allow the "Flag March" to take place next week from "Damascus Gate" in East Jerusalem, following a request from National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir. The Israeli Broadcasting Authority revealed that "the police have approved the route for the Israeli flag march, which is expected to be held next Wednesday from the Damascus Gate area in East Jerusalem."
The far-right is organizing the "Flag March" in Jerusalem next week to commemorate what is known as "Jerusalem Day," during which participants invade the Old City. National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir is holding discussions on Thursday to assess the situation with the Police Inspector General Yaakov Shabtai and Jerusalem Police Chief Doron Turgeman regarding the "Flag March," amid expectations of clashes between settlers and Palestinians.
According to the Hebrew site "Walla," sources close to Ben Gvir stated that "his policy regarding Jerusalem Day is to grant freedom of movement to Jews and all religions and to provide freedom of worship for Jews." The right-wing organization organizing the march confirmed that its route will definitely include "passing through the Damascus Gate," and that "the men's march will enter from the Damascus Gate while the women's march will enter from the Hebron Gate, concluding at the Western Wall."
