The Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today, Thursday, that "the Czech Republic will not recognize non-biometric passports of Russian citizens starting July 3, and holders of such passports are prohibited from residing in the country." This announcement was made during a meeting of the relevant EU body, where the Czech Republic called on other countries to act similarly. Denmark has also taken similar measures.
According to Czech Foreign Ministry representative Mariana Vernierova, the matter is still under preparation. She stated, "If a Russian citizen presents a non-biometric passport in the Czech Republic, they will be considered to be here illegally. Currently, we are still studying what to do with such a person in this case, as non-biometric passports are much easier to alter and forge."
