One of the most notable conclusions that carry significant implications regarding the ambiguity surrounding the mission of the personal representative of French President Emmanuel Macron, former minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, on the first day of his third tour in Lebanon, is that the French embassy quickly emphasized the objectives of his mission, moving away from the issue of dialogue, before generalizing the conclusions that suggested Le Drian has returned to the cycle of trying a failed experiment regarding dialogue. According to "An-Nahar," this came after the initial meetings of Le Drian with various figures, including Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, and Army Commander General Joseph Aoun, were accompanied by an immediate rise in positions and leaks that indicated Le Drian was entirely at odds with Berri's dialogue initiative, which was rejected by the opposition, similar to the rejection of Le Drian's previous proposal for an expanded dialogue. Therefore, it was striking that the statement issued by the French embassy, the first regarding Le Drian's mission following the start of the new French ambassador Hervé Magro's tenure in Beirut, did not include any reference to the topic or proposal of dialogue, contrasting with the local discourse that preceded the issuance of the statement. According to "Nidaa al-Watan," Le Drian reiterated to those he met on the previous day that he would have no position on the proposed initiatives until the visit concluded. The French position dispelled all promotion regarding the alignment of his mission with the initiative of Speaker Nabih Berri, who reiterated his adherence to his initiative that conflated dialogue with the presidential elections, which essentially undermines the constitution.
